Volume 4; Issue 1

The 2012 Taos Writing Retreat for Health Professionals is the source for this issue’s work. In a location that is wealthy with inspiration, a group of health professionals, creative writing novices and experienced authors, gathered to explore the written word.

The stories are work that was brought to the retreat and further refined and stories or poems that came out of workshop exercises. Two pieces are from an assignment to write a story having been given the final sentence: “And Henry stepped off the porch and into the dawn.” A poem comes from an assignment to draw diagrams of relationships in your life. One story is a retelling of the fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood. The stories are funny and heartfelt, some heartbreaking; they are little edited and come to you from the retreat.
